Assistant/Associate Professor, Department of Microbiology

The Department of Microbiology and Immunology, School of Medicine (SOM), St. George’s University, is currently accepting applications for an Associate or Assistant Professor. The primary focus of the Department is education and its team of faculty teaches undergraduate, graduate and SOM level courses. This position is ideal for highly motivated candidates in their early academic career path.

The candidate should possess a Ph.D. degree in Virology. A Ph.D in Medical Microbiology, a relevant life sciences or biological sciences field plus medical virology postdoctoral training is also acceptable.

The ideal candidate should have excellent oral and written communication skills and their Curriculum Vitae should highlight a strong interest in or demonstrated commitment to medical education.  The candidate will be expected to contribute to the courses currently offered by the Department, which include Medical Microbiology and Immunology in the SOM, General Microbiology in the School of Arts and Sciences, Nursing Microbiology and a variety of graduate courses as part of dual-degree and free-standing graduate programs.

The candidate is expected to contribute fully to the Departments’ missions and goals. This will include initiating new research projects or contributing to the Department’s existing scholarly activities with a specific focus on basic science or educational research.
