In 2016, St. George’s University’s pipeline to some of the top residency positions throughout the United States and Canada continued, with more than 880 residencies obtained by its students and graduates across a wide range of fields.
All told, SGU is the No. 1 provider of doctors into firstyear US residencies for the last six years combined.* The University’s more than 15,000 successful physicians have practiced in all 50 states in the US, and in more than 50 countries around the globe, including Canada, the United Kingdom, and Grenada.
What is especially gratifying is that our alumni often match in the positions of their choice, including highly competitive residencies ranging from surgery and neurology to emergency medicine and diagnostic radiology. From the 2016 class alone, there’s Chase Dean, an orthopaedic surgery resident at University of Colorado School of Medicine; Christopher McDaniel, who matched in a combined internal medicine/pediatrics position at the University of Tennessee; and I-sanna Gibbons-Fideler, a pathology resident at Ohio State University Hospital East. They are just a few examples of SGU graduates’ success. Not only is St. George’s University proud to see our alumni flourish as they advance their medical careers, but the medical and veterinary medical communities have widely praised the knowledge, skills, and well-roundedness of those who have come through SGU.
Enclosed is a complete list of residency matches from 2016. St. George’s University aims to continue its success in sending graduates to high-caliber postgraduate training opportunities for many, many more years.
