KBTGSP Housing

All first term students, with few exceptions, are required to live in University housing. Married students may be exempt with authorization from the housing office.

Entering KBTGSP students are housed together in the Stephenson Building, which is leased and managed by Northumbria University. Only a 10-15 minute walk from the City Campus and a scheduled stop on the Northumbria University bus service (providing free travel to all students and staff between the two Newcastle campuses), Stephenson is a converted and refurbished six storey apartment building with lift access to all floors.

Students will have individual bedrooms in self contained apartments (flats) for groups of 4 to 8 students (mostly 5/6). Most room sizes are in the range of larger than average. KBTGSP students are housed together- within the building’s zones and the individual flats. The flats have shared kitchen/dining room and bathroom facilities (two showers and two toilets in the five bedroom and larger flats). Kitchens are equipped with cooker, fridge/freezer, microwave and vacuum cleaner.

Electric central heating and fuel costs are included in the housing fee, as well as possessions insurance. There is a launderette, bicycle storage and covered car parking on site (limited spaces at extra cost). A Freewire internet service is also included in the housing fee. Students need to provide cooking equipment, crockery and bedding.
