Dr. Heidi Janicke is a Professor in the Department of Large Animal Medicine and Surgery. Her research focuses on equine surgery and lameness, including equine inflammatory disease, vector-transmitted diseases in equines, and emerging diseases and global relevance. She is also interested in veterinary education, in particular clinical skills using high- and low-fidelity simulators and the use of flipped classroom and case studies to encourage clinical reasoning.

Dr. Janicke was a Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy in 2015 after obtaining her Postgraduate Certificate in Higher Education Practice from University of Essex, Colchester, UK in 2013. She earned her Doctor of Philosophy at University of Cambridge, Department of Clinical Veterinary Medicine, Cambridge, UK in 2002. Dr. Janicke received her Diploma from the European College of Veterinary Surgeons in 2006 after completing her residency in large animal surgery in the Department of Veterinary Surgery, Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, University College Dublin, Ireland in 2005.
