Katharina Kluge, Dr. Med. Vet.
Dr. Katharina Kluge is an Associate Professor in Anaesthesiology in the Department of Small Animal Medicine and Surgery within the School of Veterinary Medicine. She joined SGU as a Visiting Professor in 2015. Dr. Kluge lectures in anaesthesiology and ECC in addition to teaching hands-on anaesthesia at the Small Animal Clinic. She also took on the role of University Veterinarian at SGU in 2017. Her research interests are focused on locoregional anaesthesia, especially in laboratory animals.
Before joining SGU, Dr. Kluge worked in the field of small animal emergency and critical care and later as a project manager and specialist in Veterinary Anaesthesiology at the AO Research Institute in Switzerland.
Dr. Kluge earned her Dr. Med. Vet. from the University of Berne, Switzerland in 2007 in the field of orthopedic surgery and did her residency training in anaesthesiology and analgesia at the Vetsuisse Faculty of Zurich, Switzerland until 2010. Dr. Kluge received her approbation in 2003 from the University of Leipzig, Germany. In August 2017, she took her specialty board exam.
