Dr. Summerfield was appointed Associate Dean of Clinical Studies and Dean of Students (UK) in 2003. He is responsible for ensuring the academic and pastoral development of St. George’s University students in the UK. Under his guidance, thousands of students from all over the world have both qualified and excelled under his tutelage. In addition, Dr. Summerfield is a member of the Board of Trustees on the Windward Islands Research and Education Foundation (WINDREF).

Prior to joining SGU, Dr. Summerfield was a consultant at the Hampshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, specializing in anesthetics and chronic pain relief. Dr. Summerfield has delivered several presentations and published a number of works in various publications. He earned his Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery from Cambridge University in 1973.
