Streaming Mediasite on Linux

Playback of Mediasite presentations on Linux is accomplished via the Moonlight Project, an open source implementation of Microsoft Silverlight.

Linux Distributions:

Moonlight should work on any modern 32bit and 64bit Linux distributions under Firefox 2.0, 3.0, and 3.5.

We make sure that the plug-in available from this site works on the following platforms: SUSE Linux Enterprise Desktop 11, openSUSE 11.x, Ubuntu 9.10, and Fedora 12.

Older distributions will run Moonlight, but may require that you build Moonlight from source code.

Hardware:

An x86 or x86-64 computer with at least 128 megs of RAM to use Moonlight,

Browser

Firefox 2.x or Firefox 3.x

Please also note that presentation streams are affected by limited internet bandwidth.

If you are not seeing the error message you are getting here, please stop by the IT Help Desk or open a SHOR (shor.sgu.edu) request.

NOTE: When creating your SHOR request please indicate the following:

  1. The exact error you are getting.
  2. The operating system you are using (ex. Mac OS, Linux, XP, Vista, etc).
  3. Which browser you are currently using.
  4. The presentation you are trying to access (date, time, and presentation name)
  5. It would be helpful if you also indicate the date and time you were trying to access the links and whether you are having trouble accessing the link on or/and off campus.
