Associate Professor Accounts and Finance, Department of Business and Management Studies, SAS

The School of Arts and Sciences is currently seeking applicants for an Associate level professor in Accounting and Finance.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • PhD in Accounting, Finance, and/or International Finance
  • MBA or equivalent Masters-level Degree in a related discipline
  • High level executive experience in Financial and/or Accounting-related roles in medium to large organizations and entrepreneurial ventures will be an advantage
  • International business or management experience in areas of accounting and/or finance
  • A minimum  of 4 years teaching experience at MBA/Masters or higher level
  • Preference will be given to candidates with a proven track record in academic, practitioner and policy-making positions in accounting, finance, and/or international finance
  • Strong research background in relevant area that meets AACSB requirements
  • Access to internet with audio and video computer capability (requirements will be provided)

General Responsibilities

  • Serve as a faculty member of the Department of Business and Management Studies.
  • Teach graduate and undergraduate courses in accounting, finance, and international finance and related topics as directed by the Director of MBA Programs and Chair of the Department.
  • Serve on Departmental and School-wide committees as requested by the Director, the Chair, and the Dean of the School of Arts and Sciences.
  • Serve on the Faculty Senate(s) and appropriate committees and subcommittees.
  • Serve as an academic advisor to graduate and undergraduate students.
  • Serve as a professional mentor for leadership and management skills development and final projects with students.
  • Be actively engaged in MBA Team Meetings.
  • Participate in Residency courses within the MBA Multi-Sector Health Management and International Business Programs as requested by the Director.
  • Perform scholarly research and publishing in peer-reviewed journals, books, and/or other works as well as attend discipline-related conferences and the like.
  • Perform other responsibilities as requested by the Director, The Chair or the Dean of the School of Arts and Sciences.
  • Reporting line is through the Director of MBA Programs; to the Chair of the Department.

Detailed Teaching Responsibilities

Standard Teaching Responsibilities include:

  • Complete online/learning training and coaching development program before instructing.
  • Develop knowledge and skills in learner-centered teaching and online learning on an ongoing basis.
  • Review and update current course curriculum and/or develop new course curriculum.
  • Prepare class materials for instruction purposes, managing the online learning environment
    .
  • Deliver engaging learning experience via online class periods or within Residency environment.
  • Provide books titles, materials list, and syllabus for student distribution two to three months in advance of class start date.
  • Hold weekly office hours.
  • Communicate with students via email and phone as needed.
  • Deliver online, Residency, or face to face classes for the respective courses.
  • Grade assignments on a timely basis (all grades due 48 hours after close of class).
  • Mentor students, as appropriate, and provide mentoring to named MBA and undergraduate students during to encourage their development as leaders and managers throughout their program experience.
  • Communicate with the Director of MBA Programs for any requirements, issues, questions and class/course feedback.

Contract and Terms

The contract will be offered by St. Georges University on an annual basis. The salary range is competitive and commensurate with qualifications.
