The Department of Physiology and Neuroscience of Saint George’s University School of Medicine is seeking to recruit a full-time faculty member at the Instructor level.

Candidates should either possess a PhD, or an MD together with a Masters degree in Physiology, Neuroscience, or a related field, relevant academic training in Physiology and Neuroscience, and experience in teaching to students in an academic environment. In addition, individuals with a Masters degree in Physiology or Neuroscience, experience in teaching, and a strong desire to engage in a doctoral degree program linking Physiology and Neuroscience with medical education are encouraged to consider an application, together with an outline of their desired project.

The successful applicant should have excellent oral and written communication skills and a commitment to education of future health-care professionals.

Primary responsibilities will include participation in teaching of Physiology and Neuroscience in the first year of the School of Medicine’s Basic Sciences curriculum, in particular during small group practical and laboratory sessions, training of Clinical Tutors (Junior MDs) as facilitators, and contribution to other programs offered by the department, as assigned by the Chair. The successful candidate is further expected to establish a research project targeted towards optimizing the students teaching and learning environment in general, and in the courses of Physiology and Neuroscience in particular, in collaboration with the Course Directors.
