Curriculum

All track specialization requires forty-eight (48) credits hours of public health curriculum: fifteen (15) of the total credits are completed in public health core courses; six (6) are program-required courses; twelve (12) in track- required courses, and six (6) in elective courses.  The remaining nine (9) credits required for the MPH degree are earned between a field-based practicum six (6) credits, and the culminating Capstone Seminar (3) credits.

For the dual DVM/MPH degree-seeking students, the Veterinary Public Health Track accepts between ten and fifteen (10-15) credits from the pre-clinical DVM course sequence. Those courses are supplemented with thirty-six (36) credits of public health courses, which includes two (1)-credit Veterinary Public Health Track Required courses.

For dual MD/MPH degree-seeking students, they must select to concentrate in one of the three track specialization: Epidemiology, Health Behavior and Policy, or Environmental and Occupational Health. The courses are offered in accelerated trimester terms which permit medical students to complete both degrees within a reasonable timeframe.

As with free-standing degree seeking students, they also will be required to selecting one the three track specializations and complete fifteen (15) credits in public health core courses, six (6) credits are in program- required courses, and six (6) credits are in elective courses. The remaining nine (9) credits are split between six (6) for the field-based practicum, and three (3) credits for the culminating Capstone Seminar  which requires a written paper and presentation.
