Dr. Ojiaku Ikezuagu, a 2005 graduate of St. George's University School of Medicine, has been added to the staff at South Central Iowa Medical Clinic (SCIMC) in Corydon, Iowa. The clinic is one of five affiliated with Wayne County Hospital, a recipient of the Press Ganey Summit Award for patient satisfaction in 2009 and 2010. Dr. OJ, as he's called, is board certified in family medicine. He completed his residency and training at Montgomery Hospital in Norristown, PA, in 2012, before joining the team at SCIMC.

Six-year-old Suzzane Castillo of Tres Martires, Cavite, Philippines, has something to be grateful for this Thanksgiving Day after her childhood fantasy to be able to run along with her friends will finally be fulfilled.

Suzzane recently underwent a successful life-saving operation to repair a congenital heart defect at St. Francis Hospital, The Heart Center in Roslyn, N.Y., through the Gift of Life of Great Neck, N.Y. that has been saving ailing children from around the world.

Dr. Sean Levchuck, chairman of the hospital’s pediatric cardiology and one of the leading experts in the field, donated his services when he performed the procedure.

Pt. Loma doctor named team physician for hungry U.S.A. rugby sevens squad

Dr. Joseph Allen, SGUSOM '99, will serve as USA Rugby’s team doctor during the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. The ’16 Games will mark the first time that rugby is an Olympic event for nearly a century (1924, Paris)

The U.S. Olympic Committee screened and certified Dr. Allen, who is a partner at Point Loma Family Practice and Sports Medicine in San Diego, California. Dr. Allen then flew to Australia for the first stop on the HSBC Sevens World Series tour, which makes six stops in four continents between February and May of 2012.

Dr. Allen is board certified by the American Board of Family Medicine in both family medicine and sports medicine. In addition to his practice, he is the team physician for the Old Mission Beach Athletic Club Rugby team, one of the premier rugby clubs in San Diego......

Our trip was funded through a local professional football player’s foundation. I admit I had never heard of him prior to this trip. Now I will never forget his name or his efforts even though I have yet to meet him.

Caldwell Alum Gives International Students Advice on Getting Into Medical School

“St. George’s is a very competitive, strong, international school,” said Kanarek. Grenada, located in the Caribbean, is a “quiet, peaceful, beautiful place” with “nice people.” Plus, it didn’t hurt that she had a “huge room at the side of the sea”. It was a “very quick two years” and “your vocabulary will blossom,” said Kanarek. And, they have clinical rotations with U.S. based hospitals for the remaining two years of medical school.
