    Complementary Medicine Biographies, August 2003
    Harry Ramnarine, MB.BS.

    Dr. Ramnarine is a medical doctor who has a private practice in Trinidad where his therapeutic methods include herbs, homeopathy, flower essences, color and vibrational emanations of plants and minerals. He is presently on the Drug Advisory Committee advising the Minister of Health on Herbal and Homeopathic Medicine. Dr. Ramnarine has recently conducted a series of lectures in Alternative Medicine for the pharmacy students at the University of the West Indies School of Medicine, Mt. Hope. For the past twenty years he has researched various aspects of Holistic Alternative Medical treatments. His present research involves creating organ resonance with herbs from the Caribbean. Dr. Ramnarine received his medical training at the University of West Indies; Bioenergetic medicine in Germany, Homeopathy and flower essence in England and the United states.


    MaryJo Dimilia, M.D.

    Mary Jo DiMilia, M.D. practices both Internal Medicine and Pediatrics in New York and New Jersey. Dr. DiMilia is the founder and former director of the Combined Internal Medicine and Pediatrics Residency at the Mount Sinai Medical Center. She currently holds faculty positions as Clinical Assistant Professor of Medicine and Pediatrics at the Mount Sinai School of Medicine. She is on staff at the Mount Sinai Medical Center in Manhattan, New York and Saint Barnabas Medical Center in Livingston, New Jersey. Dr. DiMilia practices integrative medicine combining the best of traditional medicine and complementary and alternative medicine. Dr. Dimilia’s formal pursuit of integrative medicine has been through continuing medical education programs at Columbia and Harvard University. Dr. DiMilia is a graduate of Seton Hall University and St. George’s University School of Medicine. Dr. DiMilia is the President of the St. George’s University School of Medicine Alumni Association and is very active in volunteer efforts to improve health care in the Caribbean.


    Christine Shah, RN, LMT (Workshop)

    Christine Shah, a registered nurse and licensed massage therapist, is a graduate of the Swedish Institute, Manhattan, New York. She holds a degree in Occupational Studies, majoring in both Eastern and Western modalities. Her therapeutic methods include Shiatsu, Deep Tissue Swedish Massage, Acupressure to Pressure Points (subos) ROM to joints. Christine has amalgamated her medical training and experience with those in massage therapy to bring to her clients relief from pain and discomfort. Christine operates a day spa located at Allamanda Beach Resort in Grenada.


    Helen Dziemidko, MB.BS. BA(Oxon) MFHom.

    Dr Helen Dziemidko qualified as a medical doctor in 1977 and later as a homeopath. In the 1980s she ran a private complementary medicine clinic at which she used a number of therapies as well as homeopathy. This, together with her personal experience of illness and her interest in the personal growth movement gave her a wide range of experiences which became the basis for her book " The Complete Book of Energy Medicine". Since that time she has integrated her work into General Practice within the National Health Service. She continues to study and train in techniques that enhance awareness of the subtle or energetic nature of the body.


    John Deluca, MSc., D.C.

    Dr. John DeLuca is a practicing chiropractic physician, board certified in the areas of pain management, chiropractic sports care, and clinical nutrition. He has held leadership positions on the Board of Directors of the New Jersey Chiropractic Society, and is an associate clinical instructor and a proficiency-rated practitioner with Activator Methods, Inc. He received his Doctor of Chiropractic degree from Life Chiropractic College in Marietta, Georgia, his Bachelor of Science degree in Nutrition from The Pennsylvania State University in University Park, Pennsylvania, and his Master of Science degree in Human Nutrition at the University of Bridgeport in Connecticut. Dr. DeLuca is currently a third-year medical student at St. George’s University, Grenada, West Indies.


    Zalima Ramnarine, BA., RRT (Workshop)

    Zalima Ramnarine is a registered reflexologist, holistic health counselor, and teacher. She received her certification in reflexology from the International Institute of Reflexology, St Petersburg, Florida, and studied Color Therapy with the Esogetic Institute of Colorpuncture, Boulder, Colorado. She currently works at two holistic health centers in Trinidad and conducts workshops in Reflexology and other related topics. Zalima received her teaching and counseling training at the University of West Indies.


    Ann Wright, M.Ed., LMT (Workshop)

    Ann Wright, a licensed massage therapist in the State of Hawaii, received her training at the Hawaii School of Massage Therapy, Honolulu, and is a Member of Lomilomi Association. Her techniques include Hawaii Massage Therapy, Swedish massage, Shiatsu, Lomilomi, and Acupressure. Ann has also investigated pulse diagnosis, three humors, herbal and mineral medicines at the Mamba-Datsan Buddhist Medical University, Ulan Bator, Mongolia.
