BS Nursing program OUTCOMES/OBJECTIVES

Upon completion of the Bachelor of Science Nursing program, the graduate will be able to:

  1. Synthesize theoretical and empirical knowledge from the biophysical and social sciences, humanities and nursing disciplines in the application of evidence-based practice of professional nursing across the life span
  2. Provide culturally competent nursing care for clients requiring primary, secondary and tertiary levels of interventions in diverse communities
  3. Communicate and collaborate with inter-professional teams and members of the larger community in promoting and maintaining the health and well-being of clients across the life span
  4. Demonstrate competency in the multiple thinking strategies of critical reflection, critical reasoning and judgment, and collaborative decision making in the use of the nursing process to address complex health problems
  5. Integrate primary health care principles and values, including but not limited to, social justice, health promotion, access and equity, intersectoral collaboration, and appropriate use of technology
  6. Integrate management, organizational, and systems leadership theories and principles in the allocation of resources for the delivery of safe, cost effective, quality care to diverse and vulnerable clients
  7. Synthesize research findings and integrate evidence, clinical judgment, inter-professional perspectives, and patient preferences in planning, implementing, and evaluating outcomes of care for individuals, families, groups and communities
  8. Evaluate the socio-cultural, economic, legal, and political factors influencing healthcare delivery and practice
  9. Incorporate ethical, moral and legal values in the practice of nursing
  10. Demonstrate competence in the use of clinical information, population-based data, patient care technologies, and communication devices that support safe nursing practice
  11. Promote achievement of safe and quality outcomes of care for diverse populations
  12. Demonstrate accountability for one’s own nursing practice and professional development through continuous self-evaluation and lifelong learning

The nursing program objectives are consistent with guidelines for registration of the nursing education unit by the Nurses and Midwives Council of Grenada
