St. George’s University School of Medicine (SGUSOM) is committed to the pursuit of excellence in Medical Education and seeks to hire an individual with outstanding teaching credentials to participate in the Pharmacology program of the Basic Science curriculum.
The candidate will join a dynamic, innovative, and successful faculty team in the Department of Pharmacology that works in close cooperation with the Departments of Pathophysiology and of Clinical Skills. He/she will be appointed Associate Professor or Full Professor in St. George’s University, based on qualification as determined by the Faculty Search Committee. He/she must be able to teach the whole spectrum of Basic and Clinical Pharmacology and to contribute to the organization, development and evaluation of the various teaching modules in Pharmacology, including the introductory module “Concepts in Pharmacology”. This module is currently being developed to be administered in parallel at SGUSOM, Grenada, and within the Keith B. Taylor Global Scholar's Programme (KBTGSP) at Northumbria University, United Kingdom. KBTGSP is an international collaborative educational program of Northumbria University, Newcastle, UK and St George's University, St George's, Grenada.
Within the distinguished SGUSOM faculty, the candidate is expected to contribute to curriculum review and innovation, scholarly productivity, intramural faculty business, academic activities of learned and professional societies, and regional outreach programs. There is an opportunity for research collaboration with WINDREF, the SGU-associated scientific resource center.
Experience in the organization of an online course management system including an electronic examination question bank, and in the advanced use of electronic media for teaching purposes would be an asset.
Requirements: MD PhD, or licensed MD, academic training in Pharmacology, substantial experience in teaching Pharmacology to Medical students in an academic environment. The candidate must be willing to travel. Persons with administrative experience will be given preference.
