Assistant Professor in Health Policy and Management

The Department of Public Health and Preventive Medicine in the School of Medicine of St. George’s University is seeking to recruit an Assistant Professor in Health Policy and Management.

The successful candidate must possess a terminal degree in Health Policy and Management or a closely-related area, with training in a graduate public health setting. Public health practitioners with an academic background in this area, who are or have been employed in public health practice or research settings, are also encouraged to apply, as are retirees.

The mission of the Department of Public Health and Preventive Medicine in the School of Medicine at St. George's University is to improve the health, quality of life and well-being of populations, communities and persons by primarily increasing the proportions of medical and veterinary practitioners who receive a public health education and ultimately choose to work in multi-disciplinary, professional public health practice settings.

The Department offers three programs leading to the Master of Public Health degree:  A free-standing MPH degree program, an MD-MPH dual degree program, and a DVM-MPH dual degree program, in collaboration with the School of Veterinary Medicine.  The successful candidate would join a multi-disciplinary faculty that is engaged in public health graduate education, utilizing classroom lectures, small group instruction, and student mentoring and advisement.  S/he would also be expected to participate in the on-going development of high quality graduate programs in public health education in a relatively fledgling department of an internationally-known medical school.

St. George’s University is an institution that emphasizes the highest standards of teaching and while research is not discouraged, excellent teaching is encouraged at this international university.  The successful candidate would be expected to work effectively with a highly diverse student body.  More than 50 countries are represented by these students, despite the fact that most of them grew up, and plan to work, in the United States.  The University is located in the English-speaking, Island state of Grenada, a pristine and beautiful Caribbean country.  Salaries, paid in US dollars, are competitive with those offered by US medical schools.
