The University is seeking to recruit two faculty in the Department of Pathophysiology at the Professor or Associate Professor level. This is a full time, 10 month per year position based in Grenada. Candidates should possess a medical degree (MD or MBBS) plus a minimum of 5 years of demonstrated teaching experience in the basic sciences curriculum of a recognized medical school. Board certification in Internal Medicine or other area of primary health care is required.
The main responsibility of these roles is to provide high quality team-teaching to medical students in the second year of the basic sciences curriculum. Candidates are expected to have a positive commitment to teaching and small group learning, with the ability to integrate basic sciences concepts with pathophysiology in a case-based format. Suitable candidates will be personable, culturally competent and used to working in teams comprised of international colleagues and students. Preference will be given to candidates with strong basic science knowledge, expertise in clinical vignette based MCQ’s of the USMLE exam type and experience in evaluating students by means of course learning objectives.
For an appropriate candidate there is also the opportunity to be appointed the position of Course Director. The Course Director oversees and contributes to the general teaching environment of the Pathophysiology course, including all forms of student-faculty communication, the organization of an online course management system, timely provision of new MCQ exam questions, adherence to the published schedule, and assistance with administration of examinations. The Course Director position requires excellent administrative skills to develop well-integrated medical curricula, manage international visiting faculty, and contribute to overall quality of medical education at St. George’s University.
The level of appointment will be dependent on the successful candidate’s training and experience. International Candidates will be considered. Salary (in US$) will be commensurate with experience and in line with those of American Universities.
