SGU’s MBA program brings accomplished professors with experience for real-world insight into global management challenges. The program is driven by some of the finest scholars and business leaders from around the world who have lectured at leading institutions such as Dartmouth College, University of Oregon, Institute for International Studies Japan, University College Dublin, Ohio State University, SIOO Holland, Colgate and University of Virginia.
Michael Cappy
Responsible for the design of the MBA program at SGU, Mr. Cappy is a Harvard MBA and frequent lecturer at US Ivy League institutions such as Northwestern University and Dartmouth College. Having built businesses from the US to Italy to Brazil, Mr. Cappy infused his unique entrepreneurial perspective and built upon best practices of the US-style MBA curriculum model to create a powerful MBA program at SGU.
Dr. Wayne Sandiford
Author of 9 publications, which include books and magazine articles, Dr. Sandiford wrote about topics pertaining to the Organization of Eastern Caribbean States (OECS) and economic issues within the region.
Dr. Richard Mowday
Writer of 3 books and over 40 academic journal articles, Dr. Mowday serves as External Reviewer for approximately 16 different academic journals.
Dr. Dave Dusseau
Honored with the Rippey Innovative Teaching Award on numerous occasions, among other “Excellence in Teaching” awards, Dr. Dusseau is the Senior Instructor, Lundquist College of Business, University of Oregon and Senior Instructor in Management at University of Oregon.
Dr. George Rechette
Publishing a book on financial management, Dr. Rechette has also authored over 10 academic journal articles in areas such as financing, measuring risk and financial theory.
Dr. Gerardo Rivera Ungson
Dr. Ungson is Professor of International Business, San Francisco State University with extensive experience as a lecturer at many Executive Management Development Programs in countries ranging from the Philippines to South Africa to South Korea and across the US. He has published 50 academic journal articles, and 6 books.
Dr. William H. Davidson
Dr. Davidson is Professor of Management and Organization, University of Southern California; Associate Professor of Management, University of Virginia, Colgate Darden School; and Assistant Professor of Management, Dartmouth College, Tuck School of Business. He is the most cited author in the field of international business and has published 9 books. One of these, “2020 Vision” was selected by Fortune Magazine as the “Best Business Book of the Year” in 1992. Dr. Davidson was recognized as the most cited author in the field of international management (1985–1994 by JIBS).
Dr. James Reinmuth
Author of numerous books and articles in academic journals, Dr. Reinmuth has led management workshops in the US, Japan, Korea, Australia, Hong Kong, Malaysia, Singapore, Indonesia, China and France.
Dr. Dell I. Hawkins
Dr. Hawkins serves as Lundquist Professor of Marketing, University of Oregon, in addition to his appointments as Visiting Professor, Netherlands School of Business, Boston University Overseas Program (Germany, Italy Netherlands), Xiantan University PRC, Berufsakademie Mosbach, Germany. Author of 4 books covering marketing, Dr. Hawkins has also written numerous academic journal articles. He has consulted with companies such as General Electric, Texaco and Volvo Western.
Dr. Madhav P. Kacker
Writer of 5 books and monographs, Dr. Kacker has delivered guest lectures at universities in Canada, India, Hong Kong and Costa Rica.
Dr. Carlton B. Roberts
Assistant Professor of Business Administration at Western Carolina State University, Dr. Roberts is also a CPA and an expert in financial consulting, specializing in areas such as business valuations for acquisitions and pricing financing deals, reporting and control systems, strategic partnerships risk management and strategic planning.
Daniel A. Williams, MPA.
As the Special Assistant to the President of Intercollegiate Athletics and former Vice President of Administration at the University of Oregon, Dr. Williams brings a lot of experience and expertise in public policy. He has served on the Board of Directors of numerous organizations in health, insurance and banking.
Dr. William Sawyer
Co-author of several scientific papers in areas relating to advanced mathematical modeling and software design, Dr. Sawyer has worked on several high profile projects with many different companies and agencies including NASA. He has lectured extensively in India and Switzerland.
Dr. Fred Dekker
Dr. Dekker is currently an Adjunct Professor, Nantes School of Management (Nantes, France) and also Managing Partner F&C Management Consultancy (Driebergen, The Netherlands). He is also a former Director for Worldwide Training and Development at Arthur D. Little International Inc. Dr. Dekker’s professional experience includes developing and managing strategic change projects for large and medium-sized (international) companies and extensive experience in, and knowledge of, areas related to management consulting, business/management education.
Dr. Leslie-Ann Nicole Jordan-Miller
As a lecturer in Hospitality Management University of the West Indies, Dr. Jordon-Miller has published several scientific articles in areas relating to tourism within the Caribbean region. She has worked on several projects and consultancies, both internationally and within the region, related to the tourism industry. She is a former member of the Board of Directors of the Trinidad Restaurant, Hotel and Tourism Association.
Dr. Roger Chope
Dr. Chope is currently an Assistant Professor, School of Business Administration, Portland and faculty member at Consortium International University Paderno, del Grappa, Italy. He is a former Assistant Professor of Accounting at the School of Business Administration at University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill. At the Lundquist College of Business he has been named Donald A. Watson Faculty Member of the Year, has received two distinguished teaching awards and has also received “Excellence in Teaching” Awards 5 times from the Oregon Executive MBA Program.
Dr. Jerry Kissler
A former Senior Vice Provost for Planning and Resources and former Associate Professor at the University of Oregon, Dr. Kissler has published over 20 research articles, conference presentations and book chapters on leadership, management, public policy and change. He has more than 30 years of management experience in areas ranging from higher education to government and industry.
Dr. Carl Justin Robinson
Dr. Robinson is the Deputy Dean Outreach, Faculty of Social Sciences, and a Lecturer, Department of Management Studies, University of the West Indies, Barbados. He has published numerous papers in areas related to Finance and Stock Markets and is also heavily involved in research activities which focus on financial markets and systems in the Caribbean and other developing economies.
Stephen Fletcher, FCIM, MBA
An Associate Professor, St. Georges University and a former tutor at Middlesex University and Aston University Business School, in the UK in which he is also a PhD candidate. Mr. Fletcher is the former Manager of the Small Enterprise Development Unit at the Grenada Development Bank, has published a book in collaboration with the Commonwealth Secretariat titled “Poor Commonwealth No Longer?” and was the recipient of the Queen Elizabeth Fellowship at the Cumberland Lodge.
Ronald A. Peters, ACCA, FCCA, MBA
Ronald has over 20 years of experience in Auditing, Accounting, Corporate Financial Management and Financial Controls gained from working with audit firms and business organizations both in the UK and Grenada. He is an Associate Professor at St. George’s University in the School of Arts and Sciences with over 10 years of experience teaching accounting at the university-degree level.
Dr. Thompson Cummings
Dr. Cummings is presently Chair and Associate Professor, Department of Computers and Technology, School of Arts and Sciences at St. George’s University. He was a former tutor of “Structures of Information Systems” course at the Department of Computer Science at Concordia University, Montreal, Canada. As a consultant, Dr. Cummings has worked with the Organization of American States (OAS), on projects dealing with the microcomputer applications in project management, at the OAS headquarters in Washington DC.
Among his publications is “Integrating Web-based Education and Classroom Teaching: Case Studies from the Caribbean”; a paper that was presented at the IASTED International Conference on Computers and Advanced Technology in Education, held in Greece. This paper was also selected as a finalist for best PhD paper.
Dr. Thomas H. Hoyt, JD
Dr. Hoyte is a practicing lawyer for over 35 years specializing in business law, real estate, taxation, trust probate and estate planning. He is a Partner at Speer, Hoyt, Jones, Feinman, Poppe, Wolf & Griffith, P.C. Law Firm based in Eugene, Oregon.
Dr. Brandt R. Allen
In addition to being Associate Dean and James C. Wheat Professor of Business Administration, Darden Graduate School of Business Administration, University of Virginia, Dr. Allen is a Research Associate and Assistant Professor at Harvard University. He is also a guest lecturer at IMD Lausanne Switzerland, London Business School, Melbourne Business School, University of Cape Town Business School and INALDE in Bogotá, Columbia. He has authored 30 published scientific articles in areas of computer systems management, financial management and welfare administration in addition to 6 books.
Dr. Daniel J. Brass
Dr. Brass is the J. Hennings Hilliard Chair in Innovation Management, Department of Management, Gatton College of Business and Economics, University of Kentucky and Professor of Organizational Behavior, Pennsylvania State University.
He is a Visiting Professor at INSEAD Fontainebleau, France; INSEAD Singapore; University of Auckland, New Zealand; TEI Piraeus Athens, Greece; Insitituto de Empressa, Madrid, Spain; University of Melbourne, Australia; and Peking University, Beijing, China. Dr. Brass published over 40 scientific journal articles in areas pertaining to organizational behavior, applied psychology, social network and management. He is a former winner of the MBA Association’s “Excellence in Teaching” Award.
Oliver T. Joseph, MSc
Mr. Joseph is currently the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Trade, Grenada. He has lead responsibility for WTO trade policy review of Grenada and is a former Research Assistant, Robert Gordon University where he authored a module on international organizations. He has also published a paper on “The Advantages and Disadvantages of Grenada Joining CARICOM Single Market and Economy.” Mr. Joseph is versed in the field of WTO dispute settlement.
Dr. Richard Withycombe
Dr. Withycombe serves as Director of Graduate Studies and Professor of Business at the University of Montana; Instructor in Business, Portland State University; and Instructor in Industrial Engineering, Oregon State University. Dr. Withycombe has extensive teaching experience in operations management, operations research, business statistics, strategic policy, research methods and forecasting.
Dr. James F. Nielsen
Dr. Nielsen is Emeritus Professor (Finance), Oregon State University; Visiting Professor at Aomori Public College, Aomori, Japan; Kasetsart University, Bangkok, Thailand; and Aarhus School of Business, Aarhus, Denmark. Dr. Nielson is also Assistant Professor in Finance at the University of Wyoming. He has published over 40 articles in banking and finance.
Tomas H. Scott, MBA
Mr. Scott is a Senior Consultant with Arthur Andersen & Co. (Management Consulting) and past Vice President and General Manager, Cal Almond Division, Tenneco West, Inc. He has extensive consulting experience as a Senior Management Consultant, Principal and Chief Executive Officer/Director at various companies, in addition to vast experience in capital formation and entrepreneurial financing, growth plan development and implementation.
Dr. Betty Jane Punnett
Dr. Punnett is currently the Chair, Department of Management Studies, University of the West Indies, Cave Hill, Barbados and a former Professor of International Business and Management, Mona School of Business, University of the West Indies, Jamaica.
She has over 50 publications including books, refereed papers, journal articles and book chapters in areas relating to organizational behavior, international management and international business.
Dr. Cornelius de Kluyver
Dr. de Kluyver is Masatoshi Ito Professor of Management at the Peter F. Drucker and Masatoshi Ito Graduate School of Management at Claremont Graduate University; Associate Professor of Management at the Krannert Graduate School of Management, Purdue University. Dr. de Kluyver has published extensively in the areas of operations research, marketing and strategic management, and is a co-author of the text, “Strategy: A View from the Top.”
Dr. Sherma Roberts
Dr. Roberts is a former Lecturer in Tourism at Manchester Metropolitan University and is currently a Lecturer in Tourism at the University of the West Indies, Cave Hill Campus. She also is the MSc Program Coordinator at the University of the West Indies. Dr. Roberts has published extensively in areas relating to sustainable tourism.
Robert Rose, EMBA
Robert Rose is former executive professor of New Venture Development at Atkinson School of Management, Willamette University, former executive professor of New Venture Development at George Fox University. As founder and CEO of American Finance Corporation and Verifone Finance, Inc., he has extensive knowledge and experience in starting and financing new business ventures.
Dr. Erik Larson, PMP
Dr. Larson is Professor of Project Management, Oregon State University. He has written two text books on project management with C F Gray which have been translated into Chinese, Russian, French and Indonesian. One of these books titled, “Project Management: The Managerial Process” is now in its fourth edition. Vastly experienced, he is a member of the Academy of Management and also the Project Management Institute - PMP.
Dr. Scott M. Smith
Dr. Smith is the James Passey Professor of Marketing Director, Institute of Marketing, Brigham Young University and a former Assistant Professor, University of Oregon. He has co-authored a textbook with Lenard Huff on Cross Cultural Research in Business Studies, and has written and published extensively in areas relating to internet research, cross cultural research and development of computer software for internet survey research and analysis.
Michael Conlin, MBA, LL.B
Professor in tourism and hospitality management with particular emphasis on island jurisdictions, niche markets and technology at Okanagan College. His teaching and research areas include human resource management with particular interest in hospitality and tourism issues, and marketing and policy areas relating to the tourism area including education, training and community awareness, business, hospitality and tourism law, risk management, negotiations and dispute resolution. Mr. Conlin is also a Fellow of the Hospitality and Catering International Management Association (FHCIMA) and has published extensively including in the Journal of Hospitality and Tourism Research.
Dr. Patrick Shannon
Dr. Patrick Shannon is currently Professor of Supply Chain Management, Department of Information Technology and Supply Chain Management at Boise State University. He has published and co-authored articles and text in management science and business mathematics, and has taught extensively in areas of business statistics, operations management, and quantitative analysis and modeling. Additionally he has provided extensive consultancy services for public and private sector organizations including Hewlett-Packard Corporation.
Dr. Robert B. Carton, CPA
Dr. Carton is a Visiting Professor at the University of Georgia and Assistant Professor of Business Administration at Western Carolina State University. He is a specialist in financial consulting, specializing in areas such as business valuations for acquisitions and pricing financing deals, reporting and control systems, strategic partnerships, risk management and strategic planning.
He has additional management experience in areas such as production and distribution operations, human resource functions, health care and retirement planning.
Wayne A. M. Williams, MBA
Mr. Williams is one of the first batch of graduates of the SGU MBA/MIB program. He brings with him a strong analytical background which he applies in facilitating the Management Simulation course and other administrative duties.
