medical Sciences Program

The medical sciences program at SGU was the original School of the University. The first class entered in 1977 and graduated in 1981, competing favorably with their US counterparts in gaining residency positions in the US

Competition is stiff for admission into this rigorous program. Students educated in the North American system of education enter with a bachelor’s degree, the premedical sequence of courses, and MCATs. Students from other systems of education may qualify for entry into the medical sciences phase if they have a baccalaureate degree and the appropriate sciences; otherwise, they may be placed in the premedical phase of the Doctor of Medicine degree program.
