Your success is our primary objective. The Office of the Dean of Students (DOS) will serve you from orientation to graduation as it strives to ensure that every student’s experience at St. George’s is not only professionally rewarding but also an opportunity for personal growth. The DOS accomplishes this goal by providing guidance in both academic and nonacademic areas, enabling you to freely access the support you need to achieve your professional goals and grow as a person during your time at SGU.
The Office of the Dean of Students advocates on behalf of students to help you make the best use of the services available both on and off campus. Any student with mental or physical disabilities is provided a wide range of support services. The DOS works closely with DES, as well as with the academic deans and the various support services available to the University community. The DOS sits on the University Council of Deans, the Student Academic Affairs Committee and the Student Nonacademic Affairs Committee, as well as other committees and panels involved in the interests of student affairs.
St. George’s University Department of Educational Services (DES) offers course material review sessions, testing and study skills programs and other programs designed to promote academic success and further the skill development of both students and faculty.
The Specialized English Language Program (SELP) offers classes and workshops as well as individualized programs focusing on reading efficiency and comprehension, writing, oral communication, pronunciation and grammatical accuracy. Additionally, the program offers an English Medical Communications Skills course.
The Academic Enhancement Program (AEP) is a support program for selected students in their first year in the School of Medicine or School of Veterinary Medicine. This tutorial initiative includes a needs assessment interview, supplemental instruction, and personal advising.
In addition to these programs, the Department offers Educational Assessment Services and Learning Skills Programs.
In addition to these services, premedical students have access to Premedical Student Services specifically designed for them, and provided by the office of the Director of the Premedical Sciences.
