Admission

The School of Veterinary Medicine provides three years of preveterinary course work as well as four years of veterinary sciences, allowing the school to accommodate students from around the world, offering a veterinary program from four to seven years in length depending upon an individual’s academic background.

The majority of students apply for entry into the fourth year of the seven year program, which is the first year of the veterinary sciences. These students may complete the requirements for the DVM degree after four calendar years of successful academic progress.

Students lacking the appropriate foundation for direct application to the veterinary sciences may apply for entry into a five to seven year program which encompasses up to three years of preveterinary science coursework. Students from North America generally enter directly into the four years of veterinary sciences.

Dual degree programs provide veterinary students with the opportunity of studying Public Health or pursuing an MSc in research with areas of concentration in Anatomy, Marine Medicine, Microbiology, Morphological and clinical pathology, Parasitology, Pharmacology or Wildlife Medicine while pursuing their veterinary education.

Additionally, preveterinary students who do not hold a first degree and wish to obtain a bachelor degree in the course of their studies may be eligible to do so. Evaluation of prior educational background will determine eligibility and appropriate placement within the BSc/DVM program.
