Combined BS/DVM Program: Bermuda College, Bermuda’s only postsecondary educational institution recognized for advanced standing in universities and colleges overseas, and St. George’s University have partnered to bring students a unique opportunity to meet interim educational milestones (an associate’s degree and a bachelor’s degree) while pursuing the long-term goal of earning a degree in veterinary medicine.
This seven-year educational sequence begins with enrollment in the two-year Associate of Science degree program at Bermuda College. After successfully completing the associate degree program, qualified students are eligible for admission to the combined BS/DVM degree program at St. George’s University.
The third year of this sequence consists of one year in St. George’s University preveterinary medical program. Students are eligible for promotion into the veterinary medical sciences after successful completion of the preveterinary medical year. Students must meet the admission requirements and qualifications to enter the School of Veterinary Medicine and continue to meet the standards for promotion within the respective schools.
The veterinary medical sciences, representing the fourth through seventh years of this sequence, make up four calendar years in duration. Upon successful completion of the first year of the veterinary medical sciences, the student will have completed four academic years of college level coursework and will be awarded a Bachelor of Science degree from St. George’s University.
After successful completion of the seven-year program, St. George’s University School of Veterinary Medicine will confer the Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree.

Combined BS/DVM Program: St. George’s University has affiliated with Caldwell College, New Jersey to give students an opportunity to receive their degree in veterinary medicine in seven years, rather than the traditional eight years. Students who are accepted into this program will finish their Caldwell College requirements within three years, while completing all the SGU prerequisite courses. Assuming students meet the minimum grade point average (GPA) and score competitively on standardized exams (MCAT or GRE) then they will begin their first year at SGU. After completion of their first year at SGU, the SGU credits will then be transferred to Caldwell College, and Caldwell College will award an undergraduate degree.

The University of Nottingham, United Kingdom

Preveterinary Medical Certificate: The University of Nottingham, one of Britain’s most sought-after universities, and St. George’s University have joined forces to actively assist students interested in pursuing veterinary medicine. Within the structure of the arrangement outlined below, successful completion of the requisite coursework will allow students to gain direct entry into the first year of the four-year veterinary medical degree program at St. George’s University.
Students meeting, or expected to meet, the typical entry requirements of an A-level or equivalent offering can apply through UCAS for a one-year undergraduate Preveterinary Science Certificate course. This course follows the same modules offered in Year One of the BSc Honors degree in Animal Science in the School of Biosciences at the University of Nottingham.
At the time of application, students will simultaneously submit an application to St. George’s University School of Veterinary Medicine. After a personal interview conducted by SGU, acceptance into the Nottingham Certificate Program will be dependent upon a collective determination by both institutions. Subsequent entry to St. George’s University School of Veterinary Medicine would be conditional upon obtaining an overall mark in the certificate of at least 2(i) standard and a satisfactory reference from Nottingham.
The University of Nottingham has invested heavily in student facilities in recent years, and the image of Nottingham as a pleasant and progressive city contributes to attracting students. The campus for the School of Biosciences is situated in an attractive countryside setting a short drive from the open spaces of the Peak District National Park. The campus is fully self-contained with an excellent library, accommodations, and sports and recreational facilities, making it a friendly, sociable place where students are assured a warm welcome.
