Medical Education Specialist for Curriculum Development, Dean of Basic Sciences Office, SOM

St. George’s University School of Medicine is seeking a dynamic, forward-thinking problem solver to fill the role of Medical Education Specialist, appointed at the level of Assistant or Associate Professor, in the Dean of Basic Sciences Office. The Medical Education Specialist will work closely with the faculty and staff in the Dean’s office, as well as with Assistant Deans in the Basic Sciences and school of medicine academic department faculty.

Reporting to the Dean of Basic Sciences, the Medical Education Specialist will be responsible for assisting with the development, implementation and evaluation of a variety of curricular and evaluation initiatives within the School of Medicine. Current ongoing projects include curriculum mapping, articulation and renewal; student assessment; program and outcome evaluation; student and faculty evaluation; academic and professional development advising; student academic support innovation; instructional development; continuous quality improvement, assurance, and compliance with accreditation standards; psychometrics; data management and data analysis; and medical education research and scholarship.

Minimum Qualifications:
 The candidate should have an earned PhD/EdD in Education (or a related field) with at least 5 years experience in higher education instructional design, curriculum development, assessment, research, or administration, preferably in medical education. The successful candidate will be a highly effective communicator who demonstrates strong organizational skills and an ability to prioritize multiple projects; takes initiative and maintain a flexible approach to project management; and works well independently or collaboratively with a team of individuals from all levels within the institution. The applicant should possess strong skills in statistical analysis with a high level of proficiency in Excel or SPSS.
