Worried that you will miss playing your favorite sports while you are in Grenada? Or that you won’t be able to exercise, like you do at home? The Athletic, Sports, and Recreational Department at St. George’s University has plenty of activities for you. Whether you are looking to play a sport like basketball, need to relax after classes with a little yoga, or just need your cardio at the gym, SGU has you covered.

The 17,000 square-foot Student Center houses a cafeteria and food court, offices for student organizations, a fitness center, and a branch of the local bank. A picturesque open-air veranda extends from the cafeteria and overlooks the SGU campus and a variety of athletic fields used by the students—making it an ideal place to enjoy a meal!

The gym is a popular destination for students at SGU. It is conveniently located in the Student Center near the food court and bank. The area is stocked with free weights and a selection of Hammer Strength cable selector machines, and everything a well-balanced strength program requires. In addition to the strength equipment, there is an Aerobics Center with a growing selection of cardio equipment, such as ellipticals, rowers, life cycles, and a recumbent cycle.

There are numerous fitness classes organized in the aerobics center including step aerobics, kickboxing, dance, martial arts, and yoga.

If you wish to take part or organize a new event, the Athletics, Sports, and Recreation Department staff are more than willing to try to accommodate you and your interests.

  • No one under the age of 16 is permitted to use the gym equipment at any time.
