Sunil Gupta, BVSc & AH, MVSc

Dr. Sunil Gupta joined St. George’s University in 1999 and is currently a Professor of Histology and Embryology in the Department of Anatomy, Physiology and Pharmacology. He has assisted in the development of the anatomy, histology and embryology curriculum, and has been instrumental in establishing the anatomy and histology laboratories. He was the Chair of the Department of Anatomy, Physiology, and Pharmacology from January 2004 to December 2006 and again from March 2015 to June 2018, as well as the Assistant Dean of Learning and Teaching from January 2006 to February 2015 and the Director of the Pre-veterinary program from February 2015 to June 2018.

Dr. Gupta has over 38 years of experience teaching veterinary anatomy, histology and embryology, beginning at Veterinary Colleges in India where he taught for nearly ten years before moving to Africa and teaching at the University of Zambia, and later, at the University of Zimbabwe. Dr. Gupta has published nearly 58 research papers in the anatomy and histology of various organ systems of Indian buffalo, yak, sheep, goat and birds in several reputed journals.

Dr. Gupta was awarded “The Zoetis Excellence in Teaching Award” in 2013 and “The Hill’s Golden Apple Award” in 2014 in recognition of his valuable contribution to St. George’s University.
He received his BSc in 1977 from Bundelkhand University in Jhansi, India, his BVSc&AH in 1982, and his MVSc in 1984 from CSA University of Agriculture and Technology in Kanpur, India.

Dr. Gupta is a lifetime member of the World Association of Veterinary Anatomists (WAVA).
