Will I be able to work in the US?
Absolutely. SGU has all the appropriate accreditations that allow you to obtain your medical license and practice in any state. You’ll take the exact same licensing exams US medical students complete. Furthermore, 94 percent of SGU students in 2019 passed the United States Medical Licensing Examination (USMLE) Step 1 on their first attempt.

How much does medical school at St. George’s University cost?
The entire cost of attendance, which includes housing, tuition, books, and more, breaks down to roughly $90,000 per year. While cost can be intimidating, US citizens and residents are eligible for financial aid. In our more than 40-year history, less than one percent of graduates have defaulted on their loan payments. Most find the cost manageable with some simple strategies.
Where is SGU located?
SGU is located in Grenada, in the southernmost part of the Caribbean islands. A flight from Miami is about 3.5 hours. With a few adjustments, students are able to stay in touch with loved ones and become comfortable in their new location.
What should I know about campus safety?
St. George’s University is a gated community. The school has long maintained a great relationship with Grenada’s residents. The island is one of the safest in the Caribbean, and that goes for weather as well. Grenada is well below the most common travel path for hurricanes in the Atlantic Ocean.
Can my family come with me?
The average entering student is 27 years old, so we have a robust support network for nontraditional students. The Student Family Network (SFN) assists students and their families with emotional support, school, daycare, and much more.
Are there any student organizations I should know about?
Students are incredibly active in the community. They’ve donated time, money, and a significant amount of energy to volunteer projects in Grenada that range from social issues to animal rescues. There are also opportunities to get involved in intramural sports and special interest groups. You’ll be encouraged to balance your studies with other activities and experiences.
