Frequently Asked Questions
Will SGU have a class in August?
Yes, we will be starting our fall term on August 17, 2020.
Will the August class be on-campus or online?
SGU is committed to eventually resuming our vibrant on-campus experience. While we hope the current COVID-19 situation will improve enough to allow our students to travel to our world-class campus and facilities, we want you to know that we have already put steps in place to start the term via online learning if that cannot happen.
SGU is prepared to provide the best experience possible for its new and returning students by utilizing the already successful and robust online learning system currently in place, that includes:
- Highly engaging online courses, including virtual anatomy content
- Strong student interaction through small group study and virtual events online
- Personalized academic support to give each student the best chance possible to succeed
- Student support counseling and other functions to match our usual experiences
Thanks to these tools, SGU is committed to providing an excellent student experience starting in August, whether in person or online. There is no reason to wait to fulfill your dreams of becoming a physician, at a time that physicians are needed more than ever.
I do not have an MCAT score. Can I still apply?
Due to COVID-19 disruptions, all August 2020 and January 2021 applicants can be reviewed for admission to SGU without an MCAT score.
Recent DOE guidance permits waiving the MCAT requirement in which the MCAT was unavailable to students for some period due to COVID-19 related interruptions.
Our committee on admissions, the Faculty Student Selection Committee (FSSC), will review applicants for August 2020 and January 2021 for admission without an MCAT score. Applicants who have already taken and received scores for the MCAT are encouraged to submit their scores.
