“Going to St. George’s University was one of the best decisions of my life. In addition to getting an outstanding education, I made friends from all over the world. That has to be one of my favorite things about SGU—the diversity of backgrounds of all of my classmates.”

Marcos Unis, DVM, MSC '07

United States

“Being a small animal veterinarian, SGU has prepared me to tackle any obstacle that comes my way. Through the friends, good times, and education I have encountered at SGU, I am able to provide the highest level of veterinary medicine to my patients while establishing and maintaining the upmost standards of a veterinary-client relationship.”

Omar Khalaf, DVM

United States

“Taking the leap and moving to a new country to pursue my life long dream of becoming a veterinarian was the best decision I’ve made in my life. Being from Puerto Rico, I knew it wouldn’t be difficult to transition into another beautiful Caribbean island, but what I didn’t know was that the hardest part of going to Grenada to pursue my DVM would be leaving three years later. My three years of education in Grenada gave me lessons and experiences that exceeded academics. I made friends that became family, learned how to have a good life/work balance, made memories that will last a lifetime, and learned many lessons that made me develop into the person I am today. I will be forever grateful to SGU for giving me the experience of a lifetime and I can’t wait to go back to witness another beautiful sunset from our campus.”

Adrianna Cuesta, DVM ’21

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Will the January 2022 term start in person or online?

Students in all schools will be welcomed to in-person learning on campus in Grenada for the January term.  While our expectation is that all students will eventually return to campus, we also recognize that some students may be unable to obtain an initial vaccination or booster shots prior to January (due to lack of vaccine supply in some countries) and we will consider exception requests for students to transition to or remain online in the spring.

We also realize that visa/passport access is limited in some parts of the world and will consider exceptions to remain online for these students as well. We also recognize some students will be facing major hardships that make a return to Grenada extremely difficult. While our goal is to return all students to in-person learning as quickly as possible, we will be very reasonable in our consideration of exceptions for the January term.

Our priority is protecting the health of our students, and that of the Grenada community, by preventing the spread of the disease. As part of our plan for a safe return to campus life, COVID-19 vaccinations will be required for all students, faculty, staff, and administrators on campus. We urge all students who have an opportunity to get fully vaccinated to do so as soon as possible. We remain committed to providing you with all the resources and support needed to be successful.

Will virtual learning be an option?

Lectures will be in-person on-campus for students in Grenada. All lectures will use a live online delivery via Zoom for students unable to return to Grenada. The sessions will also be recorded and made available after the lecture finishes. Additionally, Panopto will be used to generate new lecture recordings as backups, which can be used in the event of a technical failure when the live online delivery lecture is running. Students in Grenada are expected to attend classes in-person.

We are devoted to helping our students so that no student loses time or progress on their education.

Is the GRE required?

For the 2022/2023 application cycle, St. George’s University School of Veterinary Medicine does not require a GRE score to be submitted as part of your application.
