ST. GEORGE’S UNIVERSITY GRADUATES – THEN AND NOW

“It’s one thing to visit a country for a week and see the sites. It’s another thing to live in a country and interact with the people. And I think what St. George’s gives you are the experiences to get out of your comfort zone of where you grew up and work with people from around the world in a different country. You learn those life skills, those intangible things, that you may not get being in your home school.

The ability to talk with someone that doesn’t look like you and to relate to them and to empathize with them are very important life lessons.”

“…I get asked by prospective students in information sessions all the time, ‘would you do it again?’ And my answer would be ‘yes’ because my goal was to come back and be a physician in Canada, and SGU helped me to do that. It was my pathway to getting where I wanted to be.”

Dan Devlin, MD ‘19

Family Medicine
Kelowna General Hospital, Kelowna, BC

“SGU opened the road for me to become the primary care physician I really wanted to be. I like to say it was the best years of my life and making the transition to Grenada was never a problem for me. When I went to Grenada, I felt like it was where I was meant to be.

In addition, SGU guided us really well and made sure we had all the academic support along with studying strategies, time management sessions, even DES classes for lecture reviews. I had the opportunity to participate in Grenadian healthcare so that gave me the international medical experience. It is also worth mentioning the valuable experience in US clinical rotations. I rotated with many physicians and residents who were willing to share their knowledge, which helped in shaping my passion for family medicine.”
