On this day, January 17, 1977, we opened our doors to a small charter class in the School of Medicine—marking the beginning of a bold vision for global medical education. Since then, SGU has grown far beyond its first cohort, expanding to educate students across the School of Medicine, School of Veterinary Medicine, School of Arts and Sciences, and School of Graduate Studies.
Today, more than 31,000 graduates around the world carry the SGU legacy forward, making an impact in healthcare, science, and communities everywhere. Here’s to 49 years of growth, purpose, and possibility—and to inspiring generations yet to come. 🌍🎂
