The American Veterinary Medical Association Council on Education (AVMA COE) is the accrediting body for schools of veterinary medicine.
St. George’s University School of Veterinary Medicine (SGUSVM) received Full Accreditation from the AVMA Council on Education (COE) on September 19, 2011, and reaccreditation on September 25, 2018. The most recent site visit by the AVMA COE took place in spring 2025, and SGUSVM is currently awaiting the outcome of that review.
The SGUSVM average NAVLE pass rate over the past five years is 84.3%, which remains above the AVMA COE’s benchmark expectation that 80% or more of each school’s graduating senior students sitting for the NAVLE will have passed at the time of graduation.

Pass rates from 2023 onwards are calculated by SGUSVM, based on the annual report provided by the International Council on Veterinary Assessment, to account for SGUSVM having two graduating classes per year, in January and June. Pass rates for prior years are those reported by the ICVA on the ICVA Annual Report and do not take into account SGUSVM’s two graduating classes per year.
This general trend of fluctuating pass rates reflects the dynamic nature of veterinary licensure assessments. The decline observed between 2021 and 2024 has been seen across many veterinary schools and coincides with cohorts affected by changes in curriculum delivery during the COVID-19 pandemic. The rebound in 2024–2025 suggests a return to pre-pandemic performance levels.
