    Bio

    Ms. Jemma Cornwall holds Bachelors Degree in Nursing and, Master’s Degree in Nursing Education and brings extensive experience in the advancement of nursing practice, teaching, and leadership. With a professional nursing career spanning over three decades, Ms. Cornwall has worked in diverse healthcare settings locally, regionally, and internationally. This wide exposure has shaped a strong appreciation for the critical role of nursing education in preparing competent practitioners and improving patient care outcomes.

    As an educator and leader, Ms. Cornwall is deeply committed to the use of evidence-based research in nursing education. Recognizing that research is a paramount driver of innovation and improvement in healthcare, Ms. Cornwall advocates for the integration of research findings into both the classroom and clinical settings. This philosophy underpins a vision for producing graduates who are not only clinically competent but also equipped to question practice, apply evidence, and contribute to the growth of the profession.

    In the current role as Chair and Director of the Department of Nursing, Ms. Cornwall has spearheaded initiatives that enhance simulation-based learning, strengthen clinical partnerships, and expand opportunities for student engagement in scholarly work. Central to this work is the belief that collaboration, whether institutional, national, or international—is vital to advancing nursing science and ensuring quality healthcare delivery.

    Ms. Cornwall’s research interests include nursing education, simulation as a teaching and assessment tool, competency-based frameworks, and community health. A lifelong learner, Ms. Cornwall actively participates in professional organizations, including the Midwives and Nursing Council of Grenada, and contributes to regional and international dialogues on nursing education and practice.

    With a vision rooted in excellence and innovation, Ms. Cornwall remains dedicated to advancing nursing through research, mentorship, and collaboration—ultimately striving to ensure that better education leads to better healthcare outcomes for individuals, families, and communities.
