🎓Meet your 2026 SAS and SGS Class Speakers:
Janique Sylese Phillip is the SAS Valedictorian and was named most outstanding sociology student for 2026!
Beyond academic achievement, Janique brings over eight years of professional experience spanning government, legal, and healthcare sectors in Grenada and on campus, she was an active member of the Humanities and Social Sciences Student Association @hs3a_sgu.
"Looking back, my journey at SGU shaped me into someone stronger and more resilient. It gave me more than just a degree. It brought lifelong friendships, unforgettable memories, and proof that perseverance pays off."
Kathy-Ann John-Sylvester, BSc `02 is the SGS Class Speaker and currently serves as associate registrar in the Office of the University Registrar. She is also a dedicated philanthropist who spent nearly two decades supporting vulnerable youth and elderly communities in Grenada, including serving on the board of GRENSAVE.
"Today marks a significant milestone in our lives. Let me remind you that you possess the intellect and determination to chart your own course as proven by your achievement today. Congratulations! I am excited for us!"

🏆 Congratulations to this term`s recipients of Excellent Facilitator Awards, presented by the Department of Educational Services (DES)! In a recent ceremony, peer-nominated facilitators for Open Peer Learning Groups (OPLGs) and Tutorials were presented with certificates of appreciation, honoring their extensive commitment and effort to support their fellow students in their academic endeavors.

🎓 Meet your 2026 SVM Class Speaker: Daphne Harris! 🐾
Originally from Memphis, Tennessee, @daphneharris began her journey in veterinary medicine early, working as a veterinary technician throughout high school and college before earning her Biology degree from the University of Memphis in 2022. She then began her veterinary education at SGU, where she quickly became a leader, mentor, and advocate for her fellow students.
During her time at SGU, Daphne served in multiple leadership roles within the Student Government Association, including President of the School of Veterinary Medicine, participated in the PAWS Facility Program, and was inducted into the Phi Zeta Honor Society for academic excellence.
After completing her clinical training at the University of Tennessee, Daphne will begin her career in small animal general practice in Ocala, Florida, where she plans to pursue her passions for client education, dentistry, and surgery.
“When I received the email that I was nominated to speak on behalf of my colleagues, I felt beyond blessed,” Daphne shared. “This is such a gift to be able to represent my island family on such a monumental day in our lives.”
She added, “I will forever be grateful for this journey and the people I shared it with. The world is gaining an amazing group of veterinarians. Congratulations Class of 2026!” 💙 #SGUGrad
