Mohamed Maher, BA, MA, PhD

Associate Professor

Dr. Mohamed Maher is an Associate Professor in the Department of Anatomy, Physiology, and Pharmacology. His research interests include macroscopic and microscopic anatomy of the musculoskeletal, digestive, cardiovascular, nervous, and urogenital anatomy.

Before joining SGU, Dr. Maher was a Research and Diagnostic Veterinary Anatomist following graduation from the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine at Cairo University in 2008 (BVSc) where he initially joined the faculty as a demonstrator of Anatomy & embryology and then obtained a Master’s Degree (MD) in 2012 focusing on skeleton specimens preparation with different methods in addition to development of self-learning carrels and modules for the anatomy museum. This was followed by a combined PhD in Comparative Anatomy in 2015 focusing on the comparative anatomy, Histochemistry, transmission & scanning electron microscopy of the alimentary tract of cats and rabbits. He progressed to Associate Professor of Applied and Comparative Anatomy in 2020 at Cairo University, Egypt. In fall 2023, Dr. Maher held a position as an associate professor of Anatomy and Embryology at Xavier University School of Veterinary Medicine, Oranjestad, Aruba, Dutch Caribbean.
