How to Clear Your Cookies

Many first believe that their browsing experience is totally dependent on their Wi-Fi signal or service. This is partially true, but clearing your browsers’ cache and cookies can improve your browsing experience, especially when accessing online content via Sakai and Panopto. See the steps below for performing these steps on the different supported browsers. It is recommended that you restart your computer after clearing your browser data.

  • Launch Microsoft Edge and click on Menu. Then go to “Settings”
  • Click on “Privacy, search, and services”
  • Under “Clear browsing data” section, click the “Choose what to clear” button
  • In the “Time range” section, change the option to “All time”
  • Ensure that “Browsing history”, “Cookies and other site data” and “Cached images and files” are all checked off
  • Click “Clear now”

You can also choose to enable the “Choose what to clear every time you close the browser” option

  • Launch Firefox and click on Menu. Then go to “Settings”
  • Click on “Privacy & Security”
  • Under “Cookies and Site Data” section, click on “Clear Data”
  • Ensure that “Cookies and Site data” and “Cached Web Content” are all checked off
  • Click “Clear”. When the prompt appears, click “Clear Now”

You can also enable the option to “Delete cookies and site data when Firefox is closed”

  • Click on Menu and go to “Settings”
  • Click on “Privacy and security”
  • Click on “Clear browser data”
  • In the “Time range” section, change the option to “All time”
  • Ensure that “Browsing history”, “Cookies and other site data” and “Cached images and files” are all checked off
  • Click “Clear data”

You can also choose to select “Clear cookies and site data when you close all windows” by enabling the option under “Privacy & Security”→”Cookies and other site data”

  • Launch Safari and click on the History tab at the top of your screen
  • At the bottom of the dropdown menu, select “Clear History”
  • In the “Time range” section, change the option to “All time”
  • Ensure that “Browsing history”, “Cookies and other site data” and “Cached images and files” are all checked off
  • Click “Clear History”
