    Antonia MacDonald

    Biography

    Dr. MacDonald received a PhD in English Literature from The Ohio State University. Her undergraduate degrees include a BA in English with Social Sciences (1979) from the University of The West Indies (UWI), Trinidad  and an MA, English (1983), from the University of The West Indies (UWI), Jamaica

    Dr. MacDonald is currently a Professor in the Department of Humanities and Social science,  School of Arts and Sciences. Over the past twenty years, she has been responsible for the development and delivery of undergraduate classes in Caribbean Studies,  Caribbean Popular Culture, Literatures in English and Organizational Communication. She is also the Assistant Director for Research, and is an Associate Dean in The School of Graduate Studies.

    Dr. MacDonald has written extensively on contemporary Caribbean women writers and more recently, on Derek Walcott and Garth. St. Omer.  She has published articles in several international literary journals and has contributed chapters to numerous books.  She is  the author of Making Homes in the West/Indies and editor of The Novels of Garth St. Omer: A Casebook .

    Committed to empowering through education, Dr. MacDonald has been active in the creation of interdisciplinary initiatives with other regional and international universities, so as to increase educational opportunities in the Eastern Caribbean.

    Dr. MacDonald  serves as a reviewer for many international literary journals.
