    Hector Zerpa Gonzalez, MV. MSc. PhD.

    Associate Professor, Anatomy, Physiology, and Pharmacology Department

    Biography

    Dr. Hector Zerpa is an Associate Professor of Physiology in the Anatomy, Physiology, and Pharmacology Department. His research focuses on vascular reactivity with specific interest in studying the cellular mechanisms behind the modification of the vasculature function under stressor conditions, predominantly on the equine and bovine digital vascular bed. He has also explored the potential effects of tick-borne diseases on the cardiovascular system and the evaluation of cardiovascular variables in sport horses.

    Prior to joining SGU in 2017, Dr. Zerpa taught veterinary physiology and pathophysiology in the Faculty of Veterinary Science, Central University of Venezuela for almost 18 years.

    Dr. Zerpa earned his MV and MSc degrees from the Faculty of Veterinary Science, Central University of Venezuela and worked in equine practice before completing a PhD degree in Veterinary Pharmacology at the Royal Veterinary College, University of London, UK.
