    Wendy C. Grenade, PhD

    Professor

    Biography

    Wendy C. Grenade is a Grenadian who holds a PhD and MA in International Studies from the University of Miami with concentrations in Comparative Politics and International Relations and an MA in Human Resource Management from the University of Westminster, London. Professor Grenade is an educator, with over seventeen years’ experience at the tertiary level. She is currently a Professor, Department of Humanities and Social Sciences, School of Arts and Sciences, St. George’s University. Prior to joining SGU in August 2022, she was employed for sixteen years with the University of the West Indies, Cave Hill Campus, Barbados as a Lecturer and then Senior Lecturer in Political Science. At The UWI, she served as Deputy Dean (Outreach and Graduate Studies), Faculty of Social Sciences and as Head, Department of Government, Sociology, Social Work and Psychology (2018-2021). Professor Grenade was invited to serve on two Vice Chancellor’s Tasks Force, and chaired several committees during her tenure at The UWI. Prior to joining The UWI, she taught as an Adjunct Professor at Florida Atlantic University and was also a postdoctoral fellow at the University of Miami, European Union Center (2005-2006). In addition to her experience in the field of higher education, Professor Grenade was employed with the Government of Grenada, for twenty years, in the Grenada Public Service and the Grenada Diplomatic Service; with postings in Washington D.C. and London. As a scholar, Professor Grenade has authored over twenty peer reviewed articles. She is the editor of Grenada Revolution: Reflections and Lessons (2015) University Press of Mississippi. She has authored several other publications including: “Direct Democracy and Party Politics in the Commonwealth Caribbean: An analysis of the 2016 referendum on constitutional reform in Grenada,” published in the Journal Commonwealth and Comparative Politics in June 2020. Her forthcoming work includes, “Regional Health Security: An antidote for COVID-19 within Caribbean SIDS,” to be published by The UWI Press. Professor Grenade is also a public intellectual who contributes to discourses on Grenadian and Caribbean politics and society.
