    Biography

    William Sheldon is a lecturer in Biochemistry at St. George’s University, International School of Medicine, Northumbria University United Kingdom. His main teaching and research activities are centered on metabolic biochemistry, clinical biochemistry, analytical biochemistry, diagnostic quality assurance and exercise physiology.

    Mr. Sheldon is a Fellow of the Institute of Biomedical Sciences UK (FIBMS) and has over 40 years’ experience working in diagnostic pathology, both in the National Health Service and biomedical science higher education. He has been a member of the UK Heads of Centre for Biomedical Science Education (HUCBMS) to promote the development and enhancement of biomedical sciences teaching and research. Mr. Sheldon has been involved in the evaluation of new diagnostic instrumentation and analytical biochemistry methodologies on behalf of the UK Department of Health and Social Care. He has also been involved in design, evaluation, validation, and application of a variety analytical biochemistry methods to a diverse range of clinical and exercise related research studies, including paediatric oncology and kidney transplant surgery. Mr. Sheldon has been responsible for managing several clinical biochemistry internal quality assurance schemes and participated in the United Kingdom National External Quality Assurance Service (UK NEQAS) for clinical biochemistry.
