    Bio

In 2008, Dr. Satesh Bidaisee joined St. George’s University (SGU) in Grenada, where he advanced through academic and administrative roles to become Professor of Public Health and Preventive Medicine. He later assumed broader leadership responsibilities, including serving as Associate Dean for Graduate Studies, where he helped expand SGU’s graduate public health programs and strengthen interdisciplinary One Health initiatives. An internationally recognized educator and public health scholar, Dr. Bidaisee has authored numerous peer-reviewed publications and book chapters spanning zoonotic diseases, food safety, vector-borne infections, and global health education. His work emphasizes the One Health approach integrating human, animal, and environmental health and he has led collaborative projects throughout the Caribbean, East Africa and South East Asia.

Dr. Bidaisee has been a strong proponent of community-engaged public health, often partnering with regional governments, NGOs, and academic institutions to advance health promotion, disease surveillance, and workforce development. He has also championed educational innovation at SGU, including experiential field-based learning, global health practicums, and interdisciplinary training models using education technology and innovation. His research and community engagement span zoonotic and vector-borne diseases, food safety and security, emerging infectious diseases, and global health education. Dr. Bidaisee has also held academic and health leadership roles in Trinidad and Tobago and serves as a visiting/adjunct professor at several international institutions.

A fellow of several international professional societies, Dr. Bidaisee continues to advocate for global health equity and capacity building. He frequently emphasizes SGU’s mission of preparing professionals who can “improve health outcomes across communities, countries, and the interconnected world.”

    Professional Philosophy

Dr. Bidaisee educational philosophy is grounded in the belief that learning is a transformative, collaborative, and lifelong process. I view education not simply as the transmission of knowledge but as the cultivation of curiosity, critical thinking, and the capacity to apply understanding in meaningful and responsible ways. At its core, education should empower individuals to recognize their potential, engage with their communities, and contribute to positive change in an increasingly interconnected world.

    Get In Touch

    fun Fact

Dr. Bidaisee’s One Health perspective links human, animal, and environmental health into one messy, marvelous whole. His work in veterinary medicine reminds us that you haven’t really practiced until you’ve tried drawing blood from something with hooves and horns and a grudge. Whether it’s an iguana with an identity crisis or an elephant with PTSD, he’s been there, often with a stethoscope, sometimes with a sense of humor, always with purpose.
