Biography
Kerry Mitchell is an Associate Professor and the Chair of the Department of Public Health and Preventive Medicine at St. George’s University, where he also serves as Assistant Dean of Students Affairs. He holds an undergraduate degree in Environmental Sciences and a doctorate in Biological Sciences from Universidad Autónoma de Aguascalientes, Mexico.
He teaches Environmental Health and Biostatistics to MPH and MD students, emphasizing the links between environmental exposures and human health. His research focuses on the health risks of toxic environmental agents and strategies to mitigate these exposures through evidence-based interventions. He is part of a research group studying air pollution in the Caribbean and is working to develop a regional air quality notification system.
As Vice-Chair of the Institutional Review Board at St. George’s University, he promotes ethical research practices and responsible innovation. He also serves on the Technology Advisory Committee of the Association of Schools and Programs of Public Health, focusing on the use of emerging technologies to improve efficiency and support workforce skill development. His work prioritizes ethical, responsible technology adoption to help students apply digital tools effectively in their careers.
