Biography
Dr. Nimrod’s research experience includes studying Diadema antillarum populations with a view towards restoration and assessing the impacts of coastal water quality on nearshore coral reefs. Dr. Nimrod has a wealth of experience in coral reef monitoring and Marine Protected Area (MPA) development. He has been working closely with the Grenada Fisheries Division, The Nature Conservancy (TNC) and other stakeholders towards the development of Grenada’s Marine Protected Areas (MPA) program since 2006. He was the Chair of the Molinere/Beausejour Marine Protected Area Co-Management Group and Deputy Chair of the Grenada National Marine Protected Area Management Committee from 2009 to 2013. Dr. Nimrod has made significant contributions to the development of the management plans for the Moliniere Beausejour MPA, the proposed Gouyave and Levera MPAs in Grenada. Dr. Nimrod has been a research scientist at the Windward Islands Research and Education Foundation (WINDREF) at St. George’s University, Grenada since 2007, and President of the Grenada Coral Reef Foundation since 2016.
Dr. Nimrod received a PhD in Marine Science from The University of the West Indies (UWI), Mona in 2020. Prior to that, he completed a Master of Science degree (M.Sc.) in Tropical Coastal Management from Newcastle University in the United Kingdom in 2006 and a Bachelors of Science honors degree (B.Sc.) in Marine Biology from the University of Plymouth in the United Kingdom in 2004.
