    In the meantime, you likely have some questions about both St. George’s University (SGU) and Grenada. Below, you’ll find answers to some of the most common queries students have as well as some additional resources to help you out.

    Absolutely. SGU has all the appropriate accreditations that allow you to obtain your medical license and practice in any state. You’ll take the exact same licensing exams US medical students complete. Furthermore, SGU is the largest source of physicians licensed in the US—more than any other medical school in the world.1

    SGU offers a variety of scholarship opportunities that can help you achieve your dream of becoming a doctor. If you enter the four-year Doctor of Medicine (MD) program or the seven-year, six-year, or five-year MD tracks, you will automatically be reviewed for academic and other scholarship opportunities when you are accepted.

    SGU is located in Grenada, in the southernmost part of the Caribbean islands. A flight from Miami is about 3.5 hours. With a few adjustments, you can stay in touch with loved ones and become comfortable in your new location.

    You can also begin your MD in the UK. The partnership between SGU of Grenada School of Medicine/Northumbria University (NU) offers a four-year MD program as well as five- and six-year MD tracks. The program and tracks start in Newcastle, UK, where you can complete the first part of your education at NU, with an MD degree awarded by SGU.

    SGU is a gated community. The school has long maintained a great relationship with Grenada’s residents. The island is one of the safest in the Caribbean, and that goes for weather as well. Grenada is well below the most common travel path for hurricanes in the Atlantic Ocean.
