    Systems-based curriculum with an emphasis on clinical skills instruction and case-based teaching plus clinical training. 86 credits + two years clinical.

    SGU’s School of Medicine, a Caribbean medical school, offers a four-year MD program suitable for students who have completed a bachelor’s degree in the requisite sciences. It provides both practical and critical thinking skills needed to succeed as a practicing physician.

    Our beautiful 42-acre Grenada campus offers the ideal environment for studying medicine.  The first two years focus on Basic Sciences, which can be completed in either the UK or Grenada. Students then complete up to two years of clinical rotations in the US or UK, depending on visa policies, with elective options in Canada. The MD is awarded upon completion of the program.

    One MD Degree Program, Three Locations

    SGU is truly an international institution, not only with its diverse student body and faculty but the unique opportunity for students to begin their medical education in Grenada or the UK. The two paths feature the same curriculum and provide a strong foundation for SGU’s future physicians. Students have the option of doing clinical rotations either in the US or the UK in the last two years.

    The SGU admissions process and requirements give you detailed information on what prerequisites are needed to apply for our MD4 program and will walk you through the steps you need to take to apply for admission. Entry qualification is a bachelor’s degree in the requisite sciences. 

    4-year MD Program

    Curriculum

    In Year 1 and Year 2 (Basic Sciences), students complete their courses on SGU’s campus in Grenada or the UK. They learn through traditional lectures and laboratory classes augmented by small group sessions and case-based learning exercises.

    Year 3 and Year 4 (Clinical Training) occur at SGU-affiliated hospitals and clinics across the United States, the United Kingdom, Canada, and Grenada. Bedside teaching is integrated with lectures, small group discussions, and directed study to enhance learning.
