“I helped form the SGU SVM WAVMA chapter (World Aquatic Veterinary Medicine Association) and was in charge of organizing lionfish culls with local dive shops. We would then team up with the herpetology club and grill the lionfish we caught and the alligator meat they would purchase at the Brewery! Lionfish are invasive fish in Grenadian waters and all throughout the Caribbean, it’s important to try to control their population—by eating them!! WAVMA was super important in my time at SGU because it helped me decide on the career path I want to follow, which is aquatic veterinary medicine. I also met a lot of great people being apart of this club…especially my boyfriend!”

“Jumping off of the cliff in our white coats to celebrate the end of our time on the island.”

Constance Nicholl@connienicholl

“The people — from ushering in my new colleagues on their first 2 days of school, as a PAWS facilitator, to bartending at every Student Government event.”

Elizabeth Flatt@eflatt

“Every time I went to Grand Anse beach with my friends and classmates, the times I went to Levera beach with Ocean Spirits to see the leatherbacks nesting, and the Sexy Legs Party of Fall 2018 ?(a Veterinary School charity created to raise money for stray dogs in Grenada).”

Odemaris Rivera@odelynn

“My favorite SGU memory is making lifelong friendships and unforgettable memories. I loved exploring the beautiful island of Grenada and taking in all of the culture. I adopted my sweet pothound, the native dog of Grenada, during my second term, and I could not imagine going through life without him now. I was able to travel on a sailboat to the Tobago Cays to swim with sea turtles and while there, we stopped on the island of Petit Tabac, which is where Pirates of the Caribbean was filmed! Not only did I get to study to be a veterinarian, but I was able to have fun and enjoy life on a Caribbean island for three years.”
