Ms. Dickson began volunteering at St. George’s University in 1999 under a project with WINDREF requiring the Grenada Red Cross to collaborate. Ms. Dickson never left! She volunteered from 1999 to 2008 when she officially became part time faculty teaching Basic Life Support (BLS), International Trauma Life Support (ITLS), and as a preceptor at the Simulation Center.

In March 2018, after retiring from the public service of Grenada (serving 30 years), Ms. Dickson took up more responsibility as a Demonstrator at SGU. She is currently the Coordinator of the 22-room Simulation Center and the Training Center Coordinator for the American Heart Association (AHA) International Training center, where approximately 3000 persons are certified in BLS. Elective courses such as Advanced Cardio Life Support (ACLS) and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) are offered by the SGU AHA ITC.

Ms. Dickson has a colorful plethora of responsibilities to the Grenadian Public. She is currently the second serving President of the Grenada Red Cross Society and the first female to serve in the organization’s 37 year history. Ms. Dickson served as the Director of Emergency Services at the National Disaster Management Agency, NaDMA.

Ms. Dickson is one of four Doping Control Officer (DCOs) on the island and the only DCO trained by the International Training Agency (ITA). Ms. Dickson serves on the emergency management committee of local regional and international groups.

Ms. Dickson carries her experience of emergency management into service being the first and current Chair of the Caribbean Technical Advisory Group on First Aid and emergency Response (CTAG), a member of the Global Climate Champions Network, a Coordinating and Founding member of the GLOWRed Network; the Global Network of Women Senior Leaders of the Red Cross, a Member of the Global Steering committee of First Aid, a trainer of WHO/PAHO for Medical Management of Emergencies among others.

Ms. Dickson provides technical guidance and editorial consultation to policy papers for various groups relating to Climate change, emergencies, volunteering, gender equity and health.
