Dr. Trevor R. Ames is the Dean of the University of Minnesota, College of Veterinary Medicine and previously served as the Chair of the Veterinary Population Medicine Department, Acting Chair of the Veterinary Clinical Sciences Department, Chair of the Veterinary Medical Center Leadership Team, and Interim Dean of the College.

For over 25 years, he has been active in organized veterinary medicine having been a member of the American Veterinary Medical Association, the American Association of Bovine Practitioners, the American Association of Equine Practitioners and the American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine. He also serves on the Board of Directors of the Association of American Veterinary Medical Colleges where he is President and he is part of the Board of the Minnesota Veterinary Medical Association.

Dr. Ames received his D.V.M. in 1978 from the Western College of Veterinary Medicine at the University of Saskatchewan and his Master of Science degree in 1981 from the University of Minnesota. He then joined the College of Veterinary Medicine faculty after completion of an internship and residency at that institute. His teaching responsibilities include lectures in virology and large animal internal medicine. Dr. Ames is a diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine.  His research interests include infectious diseases of horses and cattle.
