Biography

Sophie earned her veterinary degree in 2009 from the University of Murcia, Spain. She then mostly worked in zoo and wildlife medicine, research and conservation; from studying Adélie penguins in Antarctica to rehabilitating chimpanzees Sierra Leone. She completed an ECZM residency in zoo health management at Twycross Zoo (UK) coupled with a doctorate in great ape cardiac diseases at the University of Nottingham (UK). She was appointed as an assistant professor at SGU in fall 2021 and teaches on the exotic animal course.
