CLSK 500 Communication and Physical Diagnosis

This course facilitates the student’s transition from basic sciences curriculum to the clinical sciences curriculum, providing instruction in integrated patient and clinician-centered medical interviewing. Students learn to obtain and present an age-appropriate medical history, perform a focused physical examination, formulate differential diagnosis based on clinical reasoning, and develop and document patient notes according to the SOAP format and USMLE Step 2 CS guidelines. Students see standardized patients in simulated settings in addition to lectures and exam teaching sessions.
