This course provides students with hands-on large animal training during visits to local farms. Students gain experience in herd health management (including disease prevention and biosecurity), physical diagnosis, anesthesia and surgical skills while working with small ruminant and pigs.  Large animal veterinarians facilitate group discussions to emphasize topics presented in concurrent sixth-term large animal medicine courses as well as food safety, ethics and client communication.
