LAMS 534 Management of Surgical Emergencies in Horses
This course will prepare equine-oriented students to recognize and assess common emergencies presented to equine general practitioners utilizing case-based discussions to illustrate each emergency situation. Each case discussion will have two component: the first will focus on the assessment and stabilization of the preoperative patient and the second will focus on the anesthetic management of common surgical emergencies. Students will explore current and relevant literature supporting the use of goal–directed medical, surgical, and anesthetic techniques of equine medicine today.
